Discovering Cabeço do Peão

‘(…) The Municipal Forest of Cabeço do Peão with an area of around 33,6 hectares is a municipal property with great significance, due to its location face to the town’s urban zone, assuming itself as Figueiró dos Vinhos’s lung and aimed to leisure and entertainment purposes.

Its highest point is at around 500 meters of altitude, where is located the Chapel of St.º António.

In all this area, there are many forest species, prevailing the eucalyptus and the maritime pine, but also oak trees, holm oaks, Bay laurels, strawberry trees, and other species like white heather, Portuguese broom and carqueja; one assembly that confers to the landscape truly beautiful tones.

This place has also a picnic park, sport trail, playground, tennis court and several pedestrian trails; features that result in excellent moments of relaxation and quietness, under the shadow of the enormous tree assembly which protects from the sun in summer days (…)’.

It’s worth to get lost here and to discover, in an upper place towards the urban zone, the green of a preserved forest.
