Pera’s Stream
Fluvial Beach recognised as 'Accessible Beach'.

Located at Ribeira de Pera, with clean and bright waters, the Fluvial Beach of Poço Corga provides the quietness and serenity we need to renew our strengths and delight our body and spirit.
The bucolic landscapes that combine the green from Lousã’s Mountain with the blue from the sky, the colours from the flowers and the songs from the birds, enable a full contact with nature. At the beach’s surroundings, splendid centenarian oak trees provide the so needed shadows to the picnic park; and the Museum 'Lagar do Corga', ancient foundation that worked through hydraulic energy, reminds the visitors how our ancestors produced olive oil.
The water quality, the pedestrian access, the access slopes for disabled people, adapted toilet facilities with easy access, first aid service and lifeguard, during high season, are some of the qualities provided by this beach.

Rocas

Pera’s Stream

The Fluvial Beach of Rocas is a leisure, activities and entertainment complex, located at a lake with almost 1 km long, at the heart of the town of Castanheira de Pera.
An island at the middle of the beach, an artificial waves swimming-pool with 2.100 m2 (the biggest of the country), a reservoir and a centenarian bridge, result in a scenario where dream and reality get confused.
The clear waters of Ribeira de Pera spread themselves, creating an enchanted place where tropical Palm trees live in harmony with Lousã’s Mountain watching from up there.
You can still go for a small promenade on a rowing boat or pedalo and sleep at one of the sailing ships of the marine, letting yourself relax with the smooth rocking of the water, or stay in one of the 6 bungalows at the shore of the reservoir, with a great view to the water mirror.

Network of Fluvial Beaches

What is it?

It’s a list of fluvial beaches located at the region of Pinhal Interior Norte which gather a set of features that allow enjoying them with the proper quality and safety conditions. This way, people are informed of the clean waters that still exist at the fluvial beaches. The Network is constituted by 21 fluvial beaches spread by 11 Municipalities.

What are the main purposes of this project?

  • To create an integrated network of actions at the fluvial beaches, in order to promote this patrimony.
  • To create an appealing and strong image of the entire region.
  • To create a new vision of the region: Nature / Xisto Villages / Fluvial Beaches.

Who works at this Network?

Lousitânea – Liga de Amigos da Serra da Lousã (Lousã’s Mountain Friends), non profit association, whose mission is the protection of environmental tourism as a way of a sustainable and integrated development, through the Project: “Rede de Praias Fluviais do Pinhal Interior” (Network of Fluvial Beaches of Pinhal Interior), financiered by FEDER/Eixo Prioritário II do Programa Operacional do Centro and supported by the municipalities of Arganil, Castanheira de Pera, Góis, Figueiró-dos-Vinhos, Lousã, Mação, Oleiros, Pedrógão Grande, Penela, Proença a Nova and Sertã.

Who is Lontrinhas?

The Lontra (Otter - lutra lutra) was chosen as Mascot of the Project because it’s a mammal that inhabits this region’s rivers. The otter is, typically, a nice animal, humorous and very demanding in what concerns the quality of the waters where it lives, and therefore the perfect mascot to recognize and evaluate the beaches of this Network.

Lontrinhas - Mascote The message of Lontrinhas to all children:
‘I like Portugal very much because it still has many rivers with clean waters and surrounded by luxurious vegetation where I can take my nap during the day.
My house are the holes I do on the shores and hidden by vegetation. I learned how to swim when I was three months old and I’m a great swimmer. Those delicious fishes of the river are my favourite meal. My little tummy gets satisfied and my whiskers get shinny.
I enjoy playing alone during the night. Once in a while, I meet with my friends to make diving or swimming contests, always in clean waters. Have you ever tried to swim on your back and scratching your little belly??
When I find a muddy shore I love to turn it into a slide. I also play water polo with my friends.
As we don’t have any balls, we play with fruits or some other circular object.
Your friend,
Lontrinhas‘
